Feijoa Fiesta!
There's a feijoa tree in front of our house and my feijoa stash is getting out of control! Time to make some chutney perhaps? I'm also hoping to make the most of fig season by using this handy map to find out where my fig trees are at.
Forever Dolphin Love
Haunting new song and video from Connan Mockasin. The video has a five minute intro, so if you're feeling impatient there's also a lovely acoustic version of the song here.

Weekend Markets
I've been trying to curb my spending lately, but it's hard to be frugal when there have been so many great markets! On Saturday there was the Merri Creek School Fete. Is it weird that I love school fete's? The ones in Melbourne are great, there's always good food, and plants for sale, and they even sell beer and wine! I always forget until I get there about the packs of over excited children…
Also this weekend was the brilliant Finders Keepers Market. I thought it would bum me out going along to this and trying not to spend a lot of money, but these markets are so huge, and I get really indecisive about buying things. It was really nice to wander round just looking without the pressure of deciding what to buy and what not to buy.
These pics above were all taken by Mr Meet-Cute.
Who am I kidding?! Of course I couldn't leave Finders Keepers empty handed! I got these prints below, by Beci Orpin, and the second is by Amy Borrell. I love them! I got them from the Frankie magazine stall, and all proceeds go towards the Red Cross and relief for recent world disasters. The flowers I picked up at the school fete :-)

Together
I love Swedish films, and I just re-watched one of my favourites, Together. Set in the 1970s, the film starts out quite sad, as housewife Elisabeth leaves her drunk, abusive husband and takes her two miserable kids to live with her brother Göran in a commune called 'Together'.
I haven't seen a whole lot of Swedish movies, but the ones that I have seen tend to be very very funny, but with a bit of sadness too. And you would think it would be a cliché, but most of the Swedish films I've seen feature some Abba music. Not that I'm complaining, my Swedish friend Carin dragged me along to the exhibition Abbaworld which was held in Melbourne last year, and it actually made me love Abba! The song S.O.S features in Together, and is used brilliantly. At the start of the film it's heartbreaking as teenager Eva listens to the song to block out the world around her, and her parents awful relationship. Then by the end of the film when we hear the song again, it is so uplifting as the mood has completely turned around. I also love the suburban house where the members of the commune live, which is full of colour, with marimekko bedspreads and potplants everywhere.

Golden Plains
A few weeks ago I went to my first Golden Plains, which is now in its fifth year and is kind of a sister festival to the longer running Meredith Music Festival. Both festivals have developed their own wacky traditions, including the 'Rangapalooza' tree - a meeting place for red haired friends (see photo below), and 'The Boot' which we quickly learned about after laughing at a guy in the crowd waving his shoe in the air during Joanna Newsom. Mr Meet-Cute, being silly, took his own shoe off and was waving it too until someone told us that this actually means that you're casting your vote for the best song of the festival. You can see a few shoes held aloft in the pic above!
The above photographs I took on my plastic fantastic $15 camera, and those below are from my Golden Half.

Fluoro Statement
Fluoro amazingness! These necklaces are by french designer Blandine Bardeau from her Fluorescent Monkeys and Other Funky Chickens collection. From now on when I hear the words 'statement piece' this is what I'll think of.
Winter July
Miranda July, not looking like she's dressed for that cold weather. Pictured by Facehunter during the Sundance Film Festival.
Weekend Stuff
Pics from the weekend! Including a school fete, hanging out in Northcote and North Fitzroy, stumbling across a petting zoo, and the Fairfield Boathouse.
