It has been silly hot in Melbourne. I've been drinking a tonne of water, here's some I fancied up to make things a bit more exciting.
Since the start of the year Ray has been having three meals a day of solids. It is a lot of work, and when most of the food ends up on the floor, or smeared all over both of us, it can get pretty hardgoing. Finally he's starting to show more of an interest. This kumara (sweet potato) and peas mix was so colourful, I had to take a photo before it was blitzed into brown mush.
I have lots of odd sized collections of wool, which I've been getting really into making pom poms with.
My birthday was on Friday (Valen-birthday). I was spoiled with delicious cake (thanks Mr Meet-Cute) and gorgeous flowers. Thanks to a mix up at the florists I ended up with two bunches of those beautiful roses. The second bunch arrived late in the day and the delivery man had disappeared before we realised the mistake. Once we got in touch with the florists they said we should just keep and enjoy them, which I have done. I just feel a bit terrible for the lady they were intended for, and the person who sent them to her who would have been expecting some gratitude for their kindness. Oh dear, these kinds of mix ups must be pretty common on Valentines Day.
I got Beci Orpin's brilliant book Home for my birthday. And then I got these sunglasses at the Fitzroy Market over the weekend. I lost my raybans a month ago, I think I left them in the toilets at the hospital and I was so distraught when I realised that tears were shed. In public. But then I found this pair for $5 and I love them. They make real life look like it's been instagrammed. I even got extra excited going for a walk yesterday because I got to wear them. All for just $5 !!
Sunglasses selfie.

Boys with a dress on
Hello friends! Thanks so much for the lovely comments on my last post, all those kind words mean so much. Tiny Dugong and I are still hanging in here!
My good friend Phoebe's Mum kindly sent me this fantastic surprise, a book that Phoebe wrote years ago when we were both in primary school. Phoebe and I go way back, we used to tell people that we met when we were 'in our mummies tummies', but then we found out that our parents ran into each other when Phoebe's mum was pregnant with her, and I was a few months old. Then Phoebe was born, and we've been BFFF ever since!

Small Things #3
There's a feijoa tree outside our house and my stash is getting out of control! Must make feijoa chutney soon.
Now that Autumn's here it's time to start thinking about knitting projects.
I am prepared for the coming darker weather now that I've got new lights for my bike. Daylight savings was on April 1st this year, so Mr Meet-Cute took the opportunity to turn all our clocks forward 6 hours. I woke up on Sunday thinking I'd slept in until 4pm. What a prankster!

Small Things #2
I am really bad at buying plants and then not getting around to potting them for weeks and weeks - I'm such a terrible plant mother. These are some new guys that I finally potted properly. I'm keeping them all lined up in the sunniest spot in the house, now to be known as the 'plant nursery', until they get settled.
This is a pile of nearly 200 photographs I recently had printed (9 cents a print = bargain!) Now I need to find time to put them all nicely into a photo album.
Kuwaii kicks I wrote about here arrived a few weeks back and have barely left my feet. I love them so!

Small things #1
1. I've taken up knitting again! It's been a few years since I was last in the knitting saddle and it's good to be back. Knitting makes me feel productive while slobbing round watching telly (for instance). I'm planning on getting a lot of knitting done tonight while I watch the Oscars coverage!
2. I have been struggling with takeaway coffees while riding my bike in the mornings - which is pretty ridiculous and now my bag is covered in spilled coffee stains. This has been going on for months until a few weeks ago when Mr Meet-Cute bought me a cup holder to attach to my bike, and now I have this re-usable coffee cup, with a handy sealable lid. My morning coffee problems are now solved. Honestly, I don't know why it took me so long but this has been life changing. In a small way :)
