Hello Polly Home

When I heard late last year that my pals at Hello Polly were in the early stages of designing their own homewares line, I knew it would be something special. And now that the range has been released, and I pretty much want all of it, I can see that I was right!

The cushions, and the original art prints are my favourites. The range also includes merino wool throws, and ceramics are in the pipeline too.

Small Wear

I've been following ALL Knitwear on instagram and squeeing over the custom baby clothes that have been posted from time to time. It seems I wasn't the only one because now the company is making small hats and booties available through their webshop. I know of one tiny cutie who would look pretty good wearing one of those baby hats!

My Weave!

I finally finished my weaving! It took a lot longer than I expected, which is what happens when you have a baby in the house. Not a lot of crafting time! I have managed to start my second weaving project however, so watch this space!

Dreamweaver

I attended a little weaving craft-a-night with the super talented and lovely Maryanne, who you may have read about a few weeks ago on the Design Files. This is a work in progress shot of my first little piece, I was too excited about these new skillz to wait any longer to share it. Weaving is so fun, and rewarding! After struggling with learning to crochet earlier this year, and pottery classes all last year, I have to say, weaving is something that you can get amazing results from right away. Though, if you've seen Maryanne's awesome weaving on instagram, you'll see that I still have heaps of room for improvement!

I'll share the finished results as soon as I'm done with this little guy. In the meantime, here are some inspiring shots of the lady herself, working her dreamweaving magic.

And some pieces from one of Maryanne's influences, New Friends. The colours and textures used in these are amazing.

Karen Walker Autumn/Winter

Karen Walker showed her 'New Rose' Autumn/Winter 2013 collection last week in New York. Here are some of my favourite looks.

It's been so hot and sunny this year in Melbourne. I'm ready for a cool change to be able to wear some cosy knits like this hat and scarf combo.

Love all these long wool socks too.

And this green jumper - so much cosiness!

I probably wouldn't wear this pinafore myself, but it is definitely adorable!

Tweedy cosiness.

Also adorable are these backstage photos.

The new karen walker eyewear campaign has been around for a while, but I still totally love it.

I'm not so into the actual sunglass styles this year, but this advanced age stunner totally pulls them off!

Special Blanky

There's a lot of excitement in my family right now because my sister is a few weeks away from having a baby - my parents first grandchild, and I will be an aunty for the first time!

I wanted to get something really special as a gift, and found these gorgeous handmade baby blankets on Hello Polly which fitted the bill perfectly. They are made by Odds and Ends in Melbourne using reclaimed offcuts from mohair, lambswool and cashmere jumpers, making them incredibly, deliciously soft. It's almost a shame they only come in baby sizes! I chose the blanket in neutrals/greys and it was very well received by my sister, so hopefully the new arrival will enjoy it just as much, once they have arrived!

ALL ahoy!

Before this Winter ends I'm going to have one of these ALL knitwear beanies on my head. I ordered one last week, after going back and forth over these four top choices. Narrowing it down to just one was so hard!
