When Mr Meet-Cute asked me what I wanted for Christmas I was all "ummm, aaaah… I'll make a blog post about it!" Then I started thinking about all the books I'd like, though I'd also like lots of free time to read them in (hurry up hols!!) Perhaps you or a fellow bookworm need some Christmas/holiday reading inspiration? Here is what's on my 'to read' list.
Funny Lady books:
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling & You'll Be Sorry When I'm Dead by Marieke Hardy
There's something so relatable about Mindy Kaling. I've been enjoying her blog and am sure to enjoy her book too. Same goes for Marieke Hardy's writing in Frankie, and her book sounds hilarious.
Bossypants by Tina Fey & The Bedwetter by Sarah Silverman
These have both been out for a while now. I guess I've got some funny lady reading to catch up on.
Then Again by Diane Keaton
Diane Keaton is such an icon, but I really want to read her memoir for the stories about working with her friend (and ex) Woody Allen.
Crafty Books:
Make Hey! While the Sun Shines by Pip Lincoln & Design Sponge at Home by Grace Bonney
Crafty home inspiration from a couple of super blogging ladies.
Great Fiction:
The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides & 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami
Two novels that would be perfect for holiday reading.
Photography/Music/Coffee Table books:
Autumn De Wilde's book Beck is beautifully designed and has a foreword by Michel Gondry.
George Harrison: Living in the Material World by Olivia Harrison. I bought this for my sister for her birthday and it was quite hard to part with. The dvd of the film the book accompanies would also make a great gift.
And then, how is this for a gift wrapping idea? Would be perfect for a mix of books, cds and dvds.
Cheeseburger wrapping paper. So delicious. More info here.
I'd love to hear your reading recommendations too. Or are there any books you're dying to get your hands on? Let me know bookworms!

They Say it's Your Birthday #2
It was one year ago today that Banana Meet-Cute was born! Woweeee!! I have had so much fun over the past year with this silly lil' blog. Starting out I decided my blogging philosophy was that it didn't matter whether anyone out there was reading my blog or not, because it was something that I was doing for my own enjoyment … but I still get so excited and am so chuffed by you blog visitors! And comments or links back here are just the icing on the cake. So thank you so much all you fantastic and good looking readers out there!
In honour of this occasion, I thought I would re-post these photos from one of my favourite, and very first blogposts. (Have just realised this is a bit of a sad note to end this Birthday Blog Post, le oops.)
"On October 9th, 1980 Yoko Ono organised this skywriting for the joint birthday party of John Lennon (who was turning 40) and Sean Lennon (who was turning 5). The party was held at the Tavern on the Green in New York City."
John Lennon would have turned 71 on October 9th of this year.

Wings for the Weekend
I just love it when you buy a record, take it home and then discover that it comes with an awesome poster concealed inside! I just bought Wings - Band on the Run on vinyl, only to discover a poster inside made up of polaroid snapshots of the band! These above are just a small selection … Happy weekend everyone! xx

John, Paul and Sean
From this interview, Sean Lennon talking about Paul McCartney:
‘I’m just so excited when I’m around him. It’s like when you see a white buffalo and you just hold your breath – you’re just hoping that it’s not going to end. Because,’ he adds quietly, ‘it’s the closest I can come to hanging out with my dad. Every second I’ve ever spent with Paul has been really meaningful to me. He was my dad’s best mate for a long time. ’
When I read this it made me cry. So of course I had to share it with you all… Today it's thirty years since John Lennon died.

All you need is…
I love this photo that itunes are using to advertise the fact that they are now selling Beatles tunes!
Although I think this is my favourite as it combines two of my favourite things: bike riding + Beatles:
In my dreams I am riding along too - "I'm coming up behind you Paul!"
