YAYlesford

At the beginning of Spring some good friends got married in Daylesford, a beautiful country town an hour out of Melbourne. It was the first wedding for our family of three. We dressed Ray up in the cutest little bow tie, which was soaked through with dribble after about five minutes.

The morning after the wedding we headed to the Daylesford Markets, which are held every Sunday behind the railway station.

There was such a good selection of plants. Unfortunately because our car was full to the brim with baby items I couldn't really buy much. Ray does not travel light!

A bumper crop of BSC's.

These Ken Done placemats were the find of the day.

This quiche was damn good washed down with a delicious juice.

We spotted so many lil' sausage dogs here! Daylesford is my kind of town.

Raro Markets

The Punanga Nui Markets in Rarotonga are an absolute must visit experience, especially if you want to try some island food. Like these Raro donuts. So delish.

Poke is another one of my favourites. This is paw paw cooked in coconut milk thickened with arrowroot, and on the right is banana.

Head Ei's. The flower crown trend has been going strong in Raro since way back.

Merri Fete

I think I've mentioned on here before that I love school fetes, until I get to them and remember that they're teeming with overexcited children! These pics are from a school fete about a month ago which was particularly FULL ON with loads of kids. It was a good one though, I got some succulents and they had yummy food for sale.

Then, after making an escape we grabbed coffees at one of my favourite local cafes.

St Andrews

We went on a family excursion to St Andrews Market last weekend. I was expecting more vintage and secondhand stalls, but instead we found a hippies paradise, with tie dye, wizard hats, chai, and tarot readings. I'm not complaining though, it was so beautiful, I'm already fantasising about moving there and living off the land!

These dogs were hanging out with the horses. I watched a lady put the dog on the right on a pony and take him for a ride. Regretfully I didn't get the camera out in time to capture the cutest moment ever.

I came home with some chard and pumpkin.

Baked into a pie it was extra delicious!

Markit trinkets

I went along to Markit at Fed Square on Sunday, full of good intentions for starting my Christmas shopping. Instead I ended up buying lots of presents for myself. Oops.

Actually, I did buy one cute gift for my brand new niece Evie, who was born two weeks ago! That gift is not pictured above, though I doubt Evie is quite at blog reading level, I'd like to keep it as a surprise!

Camberwell to Balaclava

Some lovely friends are in town so we headed out early yesterday to Camberwell Markets. Mmmmm, donuts for breakfast.

From there we went out to Balaclava, where we stocked up on bakery treats and the best ever bagels. Balaclava has a huge Jewish community, so they know their stuff when it comes to all things 'bagel-y'.

Then it was off to Elwood for a coffee stop by the beach. It was freezing though, so coffees were consumed old-person-style sitting in the car.
