Anzac Day

Today's Anzac Day holiday has coincided with Winter hitting Melbourne. It's all blustery and stormy outside so I've been staying indoors making these Anzac biscuits. Traditionally made by soldiers wives to send to the men overseas, Anzac biscuits use fairly simple ingredients that do not spoil (no eggs!) so they are easy to make, yet still delicious.

And on a more serious Anzac-y note - check out some great photos of the Dawn Service in Auckland on Lilys Make Believe.

Weekend Markets #1

I had such a good time on Saturday at the Fitzroy Market.

I didn't buy much stuff, but I did get some good eats, like these amazing cupcakes.

And these Picket Fence Pops blew my mind! So. Good. I had mandarin, vanilla and mint. Lucky I got in before they sold out.

I also went along to Finders Keepers, but I'll save that for another post.

Supremely Good

Hardhat Design's rebrand for Coffee Supreme makes me want some of their delicious coffee, in one of these goodlooking cups.

Coffee Supreme's inhouse design team have applied Hardhat's rebrand to shop materials including packaging, cups and these stools which have a punched out logo silhouette. Pretty clever.

Markets and Markets

Does anyone else get that thing where you go weeks with nothing happening and then you get five invitations for things but they're all on the same day? This weekend is like that for me, but instead of parties it's markets! The Finders Keepers Autumn/Winter Melbourne Market starts tonight, and the Fitzroy Market and Hello Sailor are on this weekend too. On top of that there are a couple of amazing garage sales going on. I've been hanging out all week for all this action, thank God Friday is finally here because I'm ready to rummage!

Easter Holiday

I was in New Zealand last week spending the Easter break in Auckland.

Everyone kept talking about how amazing the weather was after having a pretty crappy summer. I enjoyed this because the weather was stunning, and also because I have turned into one of those people who talks about the weather all the time.

I went to La Cigale French Markets where there were delicious treats everywhere I turned.

You just can't beat a New Zealand style flat white. I once controversially proclaimed that Wellington does better coffee than Melbourne - people are pretty defensive about such proclamations but I stand by this. There are so many great cafes in Auckland such as Shaky Isles - which has lovely hand drawn typography all round the walls.

… and I can't visit Auckland without going to Agnes Curran. Still obsessed with their best ever lamingtons.

Next door to Agnes Curran is Pencil Boutique. I bought a few of their Bedrock Bones hair bands which I'll be giving as gifts to friends for some time. *spoiler alert to anyone I know with a birthday soon*

Precious Pouches

Seen on thedesignfiles, these tiny leather lockets by Jen Booth are a supercute way of keeping precious trinkets near. I'm thinking they would be the perfect thing for carrying crystals.

Get yours here!

Henrietta Harris is one of my favourites. She's just launched a new website which is full of her wonderful work.
