G to the C

{photos from the upcoming Two Little Boys film, from here}

In a few hours I am jumping on a plane to the Gold Coast. This is a part of Australia I have never before visited, and all I know about it is there are some bizarre tourist attractions and the meter maids wear gold bikinis. And even though it's the middle of Winter, I'm still expecting it to be warm and beachy!

Have a great weekend everybuddy!

Queenstown I Love You

Seeing this Vogue Australia shoot on So Much To Tell You took me back to my time spent in this very spot over the Christmas Holidays. Queenstown is one of my favourite places in the world, and it is certainly one of the most dramatically beautiful.

The day I was there I came across this cute friend hiding under the same wharf these models are perched upon:

It's cold! But this pic makes me smile. From here via Miss Moss tumblr.

Market Prizes

I came home with quite a few prized items after my visit to the Camberwell Sunday Markets…

…including the Times Square soundtrack - I haven't seen this film, but I'm desperate to after giving this a few spins. Unfortunately a well informed friend tells me that it's impossible to find a copy here in Melbourne :(

I love autobiographies, so I couldn't go past this one of Mia Farrow's. I'm particularly interested in reading about her time spent studying under the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India. The group of 60's hipsters she was with included the Beatles, who wrote the song Dear Prudence about Farrow's sister who was so fanatical that she spent the whole trip holed up in her room meditating.

Hello Kitty

Karin Shiragami's Covert Kitty series captures lurking neighbourhood cats - "we can see you!"

From Camberwell to Mordialloc

The Camberwell Sunday Market is one of the best second hand and vintage markets in Melbourne, and I visited yesterday for only the second time - I can't believe I haven't made it there more often! As you can see I came away laden with bargains, which I will share in another post to come soon.

Spotted a Kylie Minogue book alongside a Maori doll. I was heartened to see these icons of Australia and Aotearoa nestled together.

After quite a few hours of fossicking we set off home via the seaside town of Mordialloc. I'm wearing one of my best scores of the day - the green duffel coat (am quite excited about this).
