Modern House

Just some more house porn to get excited by, or if you're in the market (and the money), to actually own. This is the Hollander House, built North of Sydney by architect David Hollander, and it's for sale right now!

The house was built in 1969, and designed to look like a giant rock. Hollander adheres to Frank Lloyd Wright's principles of organic architecture, and has said of his design that he chose curves which he thought were correct aesthetically.

So who wants to put in with me to buy it? I don't have money but I promise to do the dishes every night!

Baby Proofing

We've reached the baby proofing stage with Ray. This bottom shelf in our kitchen used to be home to half empty bottles of booze and random bits of pottery. Now that Ray can reach his little hands in I had to change things up and now it houses my collection of cookbooks. I've never kept them all together like this, it's so much better!

Only now we are moving house this weekend, so it's time to pack them all away again, along with everything else to be shuttled across to our new, bigger place. We've lived in our current apartment for four and a half years, and now that there's three of us we have well and truly outgrown it.

Plantlife Loft

I so love that plant covered shelf, cleverly used as a room divider in the LA loft of Adam Pogue and Daniel Aston, who are pictured above with their dog Otto, looking like the cutest family ever!

Boho-Home

I've really been feeling the seventies interior vibes lately, so to follow on from my previous post on dreamy interiors, here are some objects I'd like to surround myself with…
{1. Hanging Fern / 2. Crazy Wallhanging / 3. Ottoman / 4. Cane Saucer Chair / 5. Macrame Owl / 6. Log Stool / 7. Navajo Rug / 8. Indoor Palm / 9. Papasan Chair / 10. Shag Pillows}

I Heart My Mags

{photo from Charlotte Rust's home on the Selby}

This picture makes me glad I've kept all my old magazines. I still have all my old copies of The Face, and Staple - two great mags that are sadly no more. Mine are all in storage at my sisters but one day I'll have them out on shelves like this!

Macramé Crazy

I'm so glad I got to visit The Department Store while I was in Auckland recently. The Karen Walker and TopShop selection were great, but I was really inspired by the decor in Lucy & the Powder Room on level two. Loved the cane chairs with sheepskin throws, and hanging plants in macramé holders… I'm feelin' mad about macramé!

(Sorry I couldn't find any photos of Lucy & The Powder Room, and neglected to take any while I was there :)

Make this chair!

I'm trying to convince Mr Meet-Cute to do Greg Hatton's Make your own Willow Chair workshop at Harvest Workroom. Our place could do with some 'rustic-ing' up.

Cocktail Hour

One day I'd like to have a fancy home bar like one of these beauties…

Feijoa Fiesta!

There's a feijoa tree in front of our house and my feijoa stash is getting out of control! Time to make some chutney perhaps? I'm also hoping to make the most of fig season by using this handy map to find out where my fig trees are at.

Plant Project

I love plant filled interiors, such as these above. Unfortunately I don't do so well with my own plants… currently I have a whole bunch of succulents that are on their last legs. And succulents are meant to be easy-peasy, fail-safe houseplants.

Pharrell Williams' house in Miami is filled with crazy modern artwork by Kaws and Haruki Murakami, aswell as a glass piano! And a triangle shaped swimming pool!

Mr Kitly

I recently visited the newly opened Mr Kitly store and gallery in Brunswick. It's such a beautiful space with carefully chosen japanese ceramics, zines and houseplants. I might have to get some of these plants, I can see them on my windowsill at home. And there was even a lovely store cat hanging out when I visited - see him in the photos below!
