Youth in Revolt

Seen via Andrea Inspired, how amazing are these LIFE magazine photos titled: Teenage Wasteland: Japanese Youth in Revolt, 1964. (such a good title, I'm itching to add an exclamation mark after it, but that would be wrong)

"Kako, languid from sleeping pills she takes, is lost in a world of her own in a jazz shop in Tokyo."

"The teen in the center is the 17-year-old leader of a pill-popping crew of jazz fans"

"They find violent release in homegrown Japanese Beatles."

"[Yoko] often ends her long nights sprawled on a futon in a friend's room."

Obüs Winter

I popped into the Obüs Fitzroy store during the weekend and saw so many nice things. The elbow patch jumpers and cardigans especially won me over (anything with elbow patches generally does).

Obüs have really nailed the whole 'layering for Winter' thing with this collection. Right down to their matching stockings and socks. I would like one of everything please.

RIP MCA

This was given quite a few spins during the weekend. Hearing the sad news about Adam Yauch brought back so many memories from my teenage years. I remember when I first started going out and meeting exciting new people, and making friends with people that didn't go to my high school, the Beastie Boys were playing a lot during that time. I thought it was the coolest music ever, and I'll always associate them with that time.

Such a Night is Papercup's new Autumn/Winter Collection. So much prettiness to see here!

Keith Haring

He would have turned 54 today. Thanks google for the nice reminder.

Weekend Markets #2

Finders Keepers was on a week or so ago. It was huge! And much fun.

Beneath The Sun had a great stall, I loved this kitty pillow.

This is what it was like outside. Autumn was going crazy.

And this is what I bought - some lovely Beneath the Sun cards …

… a Stampel Studio vase, which is my new favourite thing.

And the new book Owl Know How by Cat Rabbit and Isobel Knowles, which has now been gifted to a three year old birthday girl. I hope she likes it as much as I did!

Put your mitts up

Some good mittens, because the mornings are getting so cold.
